The Ottawa Hills Board of Education voted unanimously today (March 5) to extend the contract of Superintendent Dr. Adam Fineske for five additional years. The extension means his district employment now lasts through July 31, 2027. 

Kindergarten info session for parents is March 10

Hot lunch orders for May due April 24

In another sign that normalcy is returning, the Ottawa Hills Schools Parent Association (OHSPA) is starting a limited hot lunch program effective March 1.

A parent group has joined with the district to purchase books about dyslexia to expand resources on the subject for district teachers and staff.
 

K-6 students to begin 3-week remote-only instruction period starting Dec. 7

Ottawa Hills Local Schools has decided to extend the plan announced last week to include all students in grades K-12. Therefore, all instruction for students in grades K-6 will be remote only starting Monday, Dec. 7, and last through Friday, Jan. 8.

Health department order and its impact on Ottawa Hills Local Schools

Earlier today, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department Board of Health issued an order requiring all instruction for grades 7-12 in Lucas County to move online as of 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. Ottawa Hills Local Schools is required to comply with this order and will do so.

OH response to county stay-at-home advisory

Earlier today, the Board of Health for the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department issued a temporary stay-at-home advisory to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Until the advisory becomes a mandate, however, Ottawa Hills Local Schools will continue to offer in-person instruction and follow our current model.

The Ohio Department of Education this week released its 2020 Ohio School Report Cards but without assigning districts an overall grade due to the cancellation last spring of state testing because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This evening, the Ottawa Hills Board of Education agreed to follow the local health department's strong recommendation and delay the start of in-person instruction for Ottawa Hills students.

The first-ever “virtual” Back to School 5K is coming to the Village of Ottawa Hills Aug. 9-15. Because of COVID-19, the annual in-person race – a fundraiser for After Prom – is changing its format.

Latest updates on COVID-19, impact on our district

As reported recently by multiple national media outlets, a Rhode Island student who attended an NBA game had contact with the same player as two of our students (on the following day). That Rhode Island student has now been diagnosed with COVID-19. All the students were in close proximity to the player, who has since been diagnosed with the virus.
