What you need to know about the return to in-person instruction

Drop-off and pick-up

  • Students will continue to follow social distancing guidelines and line up at their assigned doors.
  • Teachers will continue to take temperatures as students enter the building.
  • Students may arrive at school between 8:00 and 8:10.  Students who arrive earlier are asked to wait in their parents' cars or wait to come on property until 8:00.
  • There is NO outside supervision before 8:00 am or after 3:00 pm each day.
  • Students are released every 2 minutes, between 2:50 and 2:56 pm.

  • Beginning Monday, January 11, all students will be required to wear masks outside and at recess.
  • Students will continue to sit at assigned seats in the lunchroom with no more than 6 students at each table.
  • You ARE allowed to take your child home for lunch and recess. You must take your child for both lunch and recess if you choose to take him/her. This ensure we know who is in our care during the lunch/recess hour.

  • New guidance does not require us to quarantine students exposed to other COVID-19 positive students within the classroom setting while they are wearing mask and maintaining at least 3 feet of social distancing.
  • Wearing masks on the playground will prevent us from having to quarantine students in this environment.

Switching between remote and in-person learning

  • We will continue to do our best to move students between remote and in-person quickly and efficiently for covid-related reasons.
  • We ask for your patience and for 2-days notice for students to change between learning platforms to allow teacher to prepare for the change, to prepare materials for students switching to remote learning, and to prepare desks, lockers, etc. for students returning to in-person learning.
  • At times, teachers will be able to prepare more quickly, but at times, they may need 24-48 hours.  Many factors are involved in how quickly we can be ready, including:
    • Day of the week (for students who need prepared materials, this is tricky. If a teacher is able to quickly prepare materials, we may be able to move faster than if not).
    • The quantity of materials a student may need to participate actively in a lesson.
    • How quickly our custodians can locate and move desks, tables, chairs, plexiglass, etc. for students returning to in-person learning.
    • Time of day (if a teacher has gone home for the day, he/she may not be able to prepare for next-day attendance).
    • Other unexpected circumstances.
  • You may find one of your children having to wait an extra day, while another is able to start right away due to the reasons stated above. Thank you for your patience with us.
  • You may find that your friend's child was able to switch quicker or needed to wait longer than your child due to the reasons stated above. Thank you for your patience with us. We are trying to be as consistent as possible, while providing excellent education for your children.

If you need to switch between in-person and remote learning, please email Kori Kawczynski to initiate the change at kkawczynski@ohschools.org.
