Dr. Adam FineskeThe Ottawa Hills Board of Education voted unanimously today (March 5) to extend the contract of Superintendent Dr. Adam Fineske for five additional years. The extension means his district employment now lasts through July 31, 2027.

“Dr. Fineske has provided remarkable leadership during these most challenging times,” said Rob Gnepper, president of the Board of Education. “He has led our efforts to keep schools open, to pass two voter levies, and secure multi-year contracts collaboratively with our unions. Our future remains bright with him at the helm.”

Along with the contract extension, Dr. Fineske received a 1.5 percent raise to make his new annual salary $155,772. Dr. Fineske joined the district Aug. 1, 2019, with a three-year contract.

“I am truly humbled, honored, and thankful to the Ottawa Hills Board of Education for this decision,” Dr. Fineske said. “I am so proud to continue to collaboratively lead with such a strong team of administrators, teachers, support staff, community members and outstanding students to bring future success to Ottawa Hills.”

In the months ahead, Dr. Fineske said these are among the district’s top goals:

  • making sure all staff and eventually all students are able to receive the COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible so that safe in-person learning remains a top priority.
  • partnering with the Ottawa Hills community to create a new comprehensive five-year strategic plan, including updates to its mission, vision, and core values.?

Dr. Fineske joined the district from nearby Sylvania Schools. He worked there for 20 years as a classroom teacher, intervention specialist, building principal, director of curriculum and instruction, and superintendent.

In related personnel business, the Board also voted unanimously to provide Treasurer/CFO Brad Browne with a new four-year contract. The new contract means his employment with the district lasts through July 31, 2025.

“The financial health of the district is directly related to the leadership and professional abilities of Brad Browne,” said Mr. Gnepper. “From State Auditor Awards and accurate five-year forecasts to our recent superb ratings from Moody’s, Mr. Browne has provided this Board and district the highest quality advice and management.”
