Regional art show features students' work

Dana DunbarArt from two seniors and a 2019 graduate is appearing in “Focus,” a juried show at Bowling Green State University through Sept. 28.

Two of those pieces won awards: Grace Dunbar (’19) received the “Principal’s Award” & the “American Frame Award” for her mixed-media piece titled “Sadako Sasaki.” Ms. Dunbar is a freshman at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Her mother Dana (pictured at right in front of the work) attended this week's award ceremony to accept the award on her daughter's behalf.

In addition, senior Charlotte Mayer-Heckathorn (pictured below) received the "Superintendent’s Award" for her painting titled "Jungle Scene."

A work titled by Gigi McCluskey (OH '19) also appeared in the show (pictured below). Ms McCluskey is studying engineering at the University of Toledo.

Their works are among 200 from 150 high school students in the 41st annual show, housed at the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery.

The awards were presented Sept. 3, the date the show opened. Gallery hours are Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. and Fridays-Friday-Sunday 1-4 p.m.

Thank you to Kristin Johnson and Hannah Lehmann, art teachers at the Junior/Senior High School, for their ongoing contributions to student success.
