Parents and guardians of K-2 students are invited to a special online presentation about the district’s new math program at the Elementary School.
The program is called "Math in Focus" and started in August. Over the next three years, teachers will introduce the program in phases to all students in the building. It started this year with the three youngest grades. The 90-minute Zoom meeting is Monday, Nov. 30, starting at 7 p.m. (click here to join).
The presentation will be hosted by Dr. Bill Miller, the district’s director of curriculum and instruction. A featured speaker will be Kathy Butler, the program coach who works regularly with our teachers to support the best implementation. Participants should have paper and pen as Mrs. Butler will be asking them to do some math!
A committee of teachers from grades K through 8 spent the last two years reviewing program options before selecting "Math in Focus," a process that is periodically applied to all academic programs.
