Board of Education

About the Board of Education

The Board of Education is comprised of five elected citizens and functions as the policy making body for Ottawa Hills Local School District. The Board meets in regular session (as needed) at the Village Green Offices located at 4035 W. Central Ave. in Ottawa Hills. The public is invited. Dates and times are posted on sign boards at the elementary and junior/senior high schools; agendas are posted in the main offices of both buildings and on the district website.

Kathy Lathrop (President)

Education: B.A. Colgate University; M.B.A. University of Toledo

Bio: Mrs. Lathrop is the Executive Director at Diabetes Youth Services, a local non-profit organization. She has served on the boards of Ebeid Children's Hospital, The Toledo Hospital Auxiliary, and Junior League of Toledo.

She and her husband, George, have lived in the village since 2001. They have five children, the last of whom will graduate from Ottawa Hills in 2027.

Mrs. Lathrop has been an active volunteer in the Ottawa Hills community and has served as a Board of Education member since June 2021.

Jennifer Kielczewski (Vice President)

Education: B.S. - Marketing - Miami University

Bio: Mrs. Kielczewski is the owner and CEO of an industrial cut and saw manufacturing plant located in Toledo, Ohio. She is a current member of the University of Toledo Family Business Center.

She and her husband, Bill, have two children that attend Ottawa Hills Local Schools, Will and Katherine. Her family has lived in the village since 2011.

Mrs. Kielczewski joined the Board in January 2024.

Education: B.A. - Clark University; J.D. – University of Toledo College of Law

Bio: Ms. Fink is a clinical professor at the University of Toledo College of Law. In addition to her law school activities, she currently serves on the boards/committees of several organizations including the Supreme Court of Ohio Dispute Resolution Commission, the Ohio Mediation Association, and the University of Toledo Law Alumni Affiliate.

She and husband Chris Hamilton have four children, two of whom are Ottawa Hills alum and two of whom are current students at Ottawa Hills High School.

Ms. Fink has been active in the Ottawa Hills community and has served as a board member since January 2018.

Bio: Mrs. Timmers is the CFO of Danberry Realtors in Toledo, Ohio, and has been a licensed CPA since 2007. She recently completed service on the Ottawa Hills Schools Parents Association as Board President (2022-2023) and the Hannah's Socks Board of Directors as Treasurer (2019-2023). She has held numerous volunteer positions with organizations within the district and community including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Family Club, and the 2020 Levy Campaign Committee.

She and her husband, Tom, have three children that attend Ottawa Hills Local Schools. Her family has lived in the village since 2015.

Mrs. Timmers joined the Board in January 2024.
