Curriculum & Instruction

The Office of Curriculum and Instruction supports the district mission to challenge and inspire each student. In doing so, we are guided by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and inspirited by a rich and long tradition of excellence. Both affect our decisions in three overarching areas: curriculum development, student assessment, and professional development.

Curriculum Development

A great deal of what goes on in our classrooms is directed by the learning standards adopted by the Board of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This office makes sure our teachers have the resources and professional development they need to align their practice with those standards and to extend beyond them.

Student Assessment

A very important step in all of our work is the assessment of students. At every level, student performance data informs decisions about how to best meet their needs. For example, this office coordinates the testing that is used to place students in enrichment and remediation programs, as well as all testing required by the state.

Professional Development

The Ohio Department of Education Standards for Professional Development asserts that “creating a system of effective professional learning is one way that school systems can support all educators, and encourage improved teaching and learning” (2). To that end, this office manages the professional development endeavors of both teachers and administrators.
