Back to School letter from Nurse Baird
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to the Ottawa Hills Local Schools district for the 2024-2025 school year. My name is Laura Baird, I am the district nurse for Ottawa Hills Local Schools. My primary office location is the Health Office in the elementary building. There is an additional Health Office located within the junior/senior high school building.
The following information is related to Health Office hours, your child's medication (daily, and/or emergency), inhalers, epi-pens, anti-seizure medication, diabetic, over the counter medication, and the need for updated medical plans. As with every school year, any student with a medical diagnosis requires an updated medical plan put in place.
Health Office hours
My office hours are 8:00am to 3:30pm.
Medication drop-off time
I will receive medication starting August 7th to August 16th. I will not be taking medication at the evening of the open house. Please remember that all prescribed medication must be in the original bottle with the correct medication name, correct dosage, and correct frequency from the prescribing Physician. All prescribed, and all emergency medication must also have a district medication administration form completed and signed by the prescribing Physician or medical Practitioner.
Inhalers, Epi-Pens, and Emergency Resuscitative medication
Please provide the Health Office with the proper paperwork if your child is on any type of medical action plan. Paperwork for diabetes, seizures, epi-pens, and inhalers can be located on our district website located under Health Services. All medical action plans must be completed and signed by a Physician or medical Practitioner.
Over the Counter medication
No over the counter medication will be administered to your child without the completed district over the counter medication form signed by a Physician or medical Practitioner. Please do not send in any over the counter medication with your child. Please drop off all over the counter medication to the Health Office with the proper completed paperwork. Please make sure that the over the counter medication is not expired.

For parents who have children with a medical action plan, please reach out to me to update your child's medical plan for this upcoming school year.
