Welcome to the Operations Team section of the Ottawa Hills Local Schools. As a vital component of our district's success, the Operations Team is responsible for the comprehensive management of all non-instructional services that provide a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for our students and staff.

Our core responsibilities encompass the daily functions that make a school district run smoothly:

Facilities and Maintenance: We manage and maintain all school buildings, grounds, and district athletic facilities, ensuring they are clean, secure, and ready for learning and community use. This includes all custodial services, repairs, and permanent improvement (PI) projects.
Health and Safety: We are committed to student and staff safety, continuously working to maintain and improve our physical security systems and emergency protocols.

Beyond these responsibilities, the Operations Team is dedicated to fiscal stewardship. We constantly seek efficiencies and cost-saving measures in utilities, PI planning, and resource management to ensure that your tax dollars are used to their fullest potential. Our work is a direct investment in the success of every student, teacher, and community member, as we provide the essential framework that allows for a premier educational experience at Ottawa Hills Local Schools.

Facility Rental

To rent facilities at Ottawa Hills Local Schools for community events, meetings and activities, complete the facility rental form below. All rentals are subject to availability and district approval. The form includes rental terms and conditions, and cost information. Submit completed forms to Operations Director Tom Siloy at tsiloy@ohschools.org.

Permanent Improvement

The Five-Year PI Plan was created utilizing a walkthrough of campus in the fall of 2024 by Mr. Siloy and Dr. Fineske with operations staff and building principals. A teacher survey was conducted, and community feedback was gathered prior to the plan being presented to the Board of Education in January, 2025. Leadership used a rubric to prioritize projects planned for the next five years based on:

Direct impact on classrooms, students and learning
Routine use
Safety and security
General maintenance and replacement

Projects in the plan may change based on priorities and needs, how best to use available resources, and the potential of available grant funding. The Five-Year PI Plan includes a reserve of $50,000/year for unforeseen expenses and pays back the 2017 loan from the general fund by the end of fiscal year 26-27.
