Junior Ishan Khare presents research at professional conference

Posted On: Thursday, October 17, 2019

Ishan KhareCongratulations to junior Ishan Khare, who presented his own original research this month at the fall meeting of the Ohio Section of the American Physical Society. His research explored ternary chalcogenides, which have been studied recently by scientists for applications such as solar cells and thermoelectrics. He studied the structural, energetic, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of nine ternary chalcogenides.

To be chosen, he first submitted an abstract and then was selected by the event’s organizing committee. Although there are no restrictions for high school students, it is uncommon for high schoolers to apply or even be chosen as a significant amount of research is necessary.

The event is a professional research conference for professors, post-doctoral students, doctoral students, and undergraduates. It took place at Kettering University in Flint, Mich. His research will be published in the organization’s post-meeting publication.

Well done, Ishan!
