2021 - Cross Country Teams dominate TAAC

What an unbelievable weekend for the Green Bear cross-country teams at Saturday's Toledo Area Athletic Conference championships. All four teams took home their respective trophies as best in the TAAC!

Junior High girls: Leading the way was 8th grader Audrey Nixon who took first for the second year in a row. The girls took ALL EIGHT TOP SPOTS: 2nd was Libby Puffenberger (7th grade), 3rd Frey Klaas (8th), 4th Elsa Klaas (8th), 5th Caitlin McCarthy (8th), 6th Emily Timmerman (8th), 7th Mercy Alamina (7th), and 8th Maggie O'Brien (8th).

Junior High boys: The boys came in first for a 4th consecutive year. Leading the team in first was Joe Mayer-Heckathorn (8th grade). In 2nd was Thomas Lathrop (7th), 3rd Kaed Egan (8th), 4th Ian Jones (8th), 6th Quinton Smith (8th), and 7th Cole Green (8th).

High School girls: The women's team won the TAAC title for a 5th consecutive year. Leading the way in first place was sophomore JoAnna Kelley, who also was named "TAAC Runner of the Year" for a second consecutive year. Finishing as runner-up was junior Elanora Smith. Both girls were named to the 1st Team All-TAAC Team. Earning 2nd Team All-TAAC were Ava Porter (12), Anna Ellingson (10), Ingrid Harmon (11), Molly Rybarczyk (9), and Addison Carter (12) for finishing in the top 14 places.

High School boys: The men's team won its second straight league title. Leading the way in first place was sophomore Riley Nixon, who also was named "TAAC Runner of the Year" for a second consecutive year. Joining him on the 1st Team All-TAAC were junior Thomas Franklin in 2nd place, sophomore Michael Kelley in 3rd, and junior Sage Egan in 4th. Earning 2nd Team All-TAAC for finishing in the top 14 was junior Alex Mian.
