As part of a new partnership to promote positive cultures in Green Bear sports, the district will host three workshops for coaches, athletes, and parents.
The August events are organized with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit. The company's workshops and other resources help schools and other youth-oriented organizations create positive and inclusive sports cultures. This is accomplished through programs and services that develop social and emotional skills in athletes as well as guide the coaches and parents who support them.
“The goal is to have as many student-athletes and parents from grades 7-12 attend the live workshops,” said Michael Yuschak, the district’s fitness center coordinator, who is managing the workshops. “The student-athlete workshop trains the athlete to impact the sport on three levels by working to improve themselves, teammates, and their sport as a whole.”

Attendance is voluntary but strongly encouraged. No advance registration is required for the in-person workshops. Registration will be required for the athlete Zoom workshop and a link to do so will be shared later.

“I am excited for the opportunity to have our school leaders, coaches, parents and athletes partner with the Positive Coaching Alliance,” said Tammy Talmage, the district’s athletic administrator. “Personally, I am looking forward to being a part of an experience that can help all of us ensure a positive youth development experience for all of our kids through sports!”
