2021 - ProMedica Ebeid Children's Hospital

To help fellow children at ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital, OH Elementary School students are conducting a week-long fundraiser that culminates in a kickball tournament next Wednesday.

"Our goal is to promote overall health, gratitude, and giving back," said Elizabeth Syrowski, the building's guidance counselor. Assisting her is Emily Celizic, the building's part-time counselor.

The fundraiser began Wednesday; cash and check donations (made out to the ProMedica Foundation) can be brought daily to school and given to homeroom teachers.

The grade with the most donations will be announced Wednesday, Oct. 27. That's the same day the kickball tournament (grades 6 vs. 5, 4 vs. 3) takes place. Students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades will participate in age-level appropriate activities at recess.

“What Elizabeth is doing is a great example of what we envisioned the program to be,” said Anna Kolin, executive director of the ProMedica Foundation. “It's about having fun and learning to engage with the community while supporting the activities of their local children’s hospital.”

ProMedica's “When We Give Together, We Grow Together” campaign started Oct. 4 on National Child Health Day. Its goal is to raise awareness of and support for the role of Ebeid Children's Hospital in serving children and families across northwest Ohio.
