Don't look now, seniors, but your final year of K-12 schooling is around the corner. For you and your parents, three important upcoming events are already on the books for August:

College Bootcamp (different from the College Essay Workshop)

Guidance Counselor Jennifer Nagy will hold College Application Bootcamps the week before school starts in August. Seniors must choose to attend one of the sessions offered:

  • Monday, Aug. 9: 9-11 a.m. or 12:30-2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 10: 2:15 to 4:15 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 12: 2:15 to 4:15 p.m.

During the bootcamp, students will update their SCOIR account, create their Common Application account, and link the two accounts together. Students will also learn how to request their high school transcript, letters of recommendation, and other important information needed to complete their college applications.
Online registration will be available in early August. Students must bring a laptop computer to the bootcamp sessions.

College Essay Workshop

The annual College Essay Workshops are Aug. 11-13 at the Library Media Center (library) at the Elementary School from 12-1 p.m. each day. Regardless if you have or have not started, please attend as we cover the following topics: Common App/Personal Essay (Wednesday), Supplemental Essays (Thursday), and Deferral Letters and dealing with rejection even in the revision process (Friday). Hannah Shariff, Shiraz Hasan, and Meredith Randall (all members of the Class of 2021) will lead the sessions as experts who have traversed this very trying process. Feel free to join one or all of the sessions!

Senior Parent Night

Parents of seniors are invited to join Mrs. Nagy Wednesday, Aug. 25, starting at 6 p.m. to kick-off the college application season. Mrs. Nagy will review the information provided during the College Application Bootcamps and explain what is submitted with the students' college admission applications. She will also provide insight and advice about the college application and financial aid process. The event takes place in the Junior/Senior High School auditorium.
