Nearly 30 OH cross-country runners competed at the Mel Brodt Invitational at BGSU Saturday (Sept. 4) as they went up against stiff competition, including several large Division I and Division II teams.

The varsity girls team finished sixth. Leading the way was sophomore JoAnna Kelley who finished third overall and first among runners representing Division II and Division III schools. JoAnna once again broke her school record with time of 18:41. Finishing in 10th was junior Elanora Smith who also ran a personal best time. Rounding out the top seven spots  for the women's team were Anna sophomore Ellingson, senior Ava Porter, junior Anna Frey, junior Ingrid Harmon, and senior Addison Carter.

The varsity boys finished in second! Leading the team was sophomore Riley Nixon placing second overall and first among runners representing Division II and Division III schools. Riley once again broke his own school record with a blistering time of 16:09. Junior Thomas Franklin finished sixth with a time of 16:58. Rounding out the top seven spots were sophomore Michael Kelley, junior Carson Mackey, junior Sage Egan, junior Max Chandar-Kouba, and sophomore Ali Sediqe.

Both the junior high boys and girls team finished in second. Leading the girls with a second-place finish was 8th grader Audrey Nixon. Following closely behind was 8th grader Freya Klaas and 7th grader Libby Puffenberger who both earned podium finishes.

Rounding out the top seven spots were 8th graders Elsa Klaas and Emily Timmerman and 7th grader Mercy Alamina and Camille Weaver. The boys were led by 8th grader Joe Mayer-Heckathorn who finished sixth, followed by 8th graders Kaed Egan, Ian Jones, Quintin Smith, Elliot Schaal, Cole Green, and Hudson Franklin.
