2022 - Power of the Pen - Competing at regionals

OH students compete remotely at the regional competition in March

Congratulations to five Junior High students competing in the state Power of the Pen tournament tomorrow and Friday. Our students are among more than 500 competing. Representing OH are Nora Brown (7th Grade), Nina Clark (8th Grade), Josef Duley (8th Grade), Rory Norris (7th Grade), and Evelyn Parsons (7th Grade).

The tournament takes place at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. The students will take part in creative writing workshops and building and campus tours and hear author talks.

Their fellow Green Bears gave them a rousing send off last Friday in anticipation of this week's championship action. These individuals have advanced through a series of local and regional competitions to make it to the state tournament. They are coached by English teachers Karen Fischer and Cheri Palko.

Power of the Pen is an Ohio nonprofit organization that helps middle school students learn writing skills and techniques that help them later in life.
